Discovering Dashboard

Introduction to Dashboard | Introduction | 21 September 2003, by Mortimer

Dashboard is an application I Stumbled Upon some time ago and seems really promising to me. Its creator, Nat Friedman (actually a key actor of the Ximian project), describes it as an "association engine", the end purpose of it being to provide some context relevant information to the user.

It means that this application stands on a corner of your desktop listening to whatever you’re doing on your computer and then provides you with data about what you’re doing:

  • web page in your bookmarks, your history,
  • document lying in a hidden corner of your Hard Drive,
  • or anything you won’t think about but could be usefulclin d'oeuil

I really think this application is promising and will be glad to contribute to it (or just for my own fun and use). Hence this site is not the official site for Dashboard nor it will provide official information, it’s just a description of my work on it and what I do understand and plan. This site only provide as is information.
