Flickr: view group comments 0.8

One of the usability issue in Flickr [1] is that when you look at the recent comments made in all your groups, you cannot see quickly what is their content.

This means that if you want to read the new comments or see if the new topic is of interest, you have to load the full group discussion page.

This new Greasemonkey script allows you to directly see in the recent changes page the new messages:

Easy group follow

From version 0.5, this script will also remember which messages you have already looked at and mark them as read with a different colour.

From version 0.6, this script will auto reload the page at specific intervals if you want it to. You can set the period by modifying the configuration variable at the beginning of the file.

From version 0.8, the code has been improved to have a faster load of the script and leave the message fetching to the last moment. In this version, you can also click on the group title or the cell containing the group to mark all of the messages displayed for that group as read.

Make a Donation

No donation has been made for this project yet.

Donation don't have to be big to make a difference. I already received donations ranging from 0.50£ to 10£ and all of them made me happy. Think of it, if the thousand users of these tools made a small donation, it would not make a big difference to them, but it would to me.

You will probably enjoy using what you download from this website and if so, you can decide to make a donation. Making a donation is optional but will help to develop new tools and support the existing code.

All the software, scripts and other tools distributed on this web site are distributed under open source licenses and are available to download for free. Making the code free and available to all doesn't means it's of lower quality. The tools provided here are fully functional and their author invested some of his personal time to develop them and provide support to their users.

Think about it.

P.S.

It uses the discussion feeds to fetch the last messages (just the right number as specified by the recent changes page) and display them quickly on the same page. However sometime the feed is not up to date with the page and you will have to wait a little bit before being able to see the very last message.
